A busy couple of weeks!
The last couple of weeks have been a bit of a whirlwind! 23rd June was the St Catherine’s Summer Pop-Up event. Our “pop-ups” were samples and books from Jen Arnall-Culliford, hand knitted fairisle items from Mary Henderson and artwork from Janet Friel. Janet also ran a crochet class that morning. There was a great atmosphere on the hill and we had such a fun day in the shop!
We’ve been swapping things around in the shop a bit so that we could put our new range, Isager, centre stage.
Isager Yarns are produced in Denmark and are absolutely beautiful. The recent publication from Helga Isager, K (Knit), is a series of stunning, classic designs which all use two of the yarn bases, mostly stranded together, to achieve gorgeous effects. I am currently knitting one of the patterns, YO (Yarn Over), with Japansk Bomuld (a really interesting cotton tape that feels almost like paper at first but softens with use and washing) and Alpaca 1 (a very fine spun alpaca) stranded together.
Each pattern focuses on a particular technique and the book features the neat idea of a real-size photograph of the gauge swatch for each pattern so you can just place your swatch on top to see if it fits. The swatches also incorporate techniques used in the patterns. Here is my swatch for YO (Yarn Over):
I am currently showing off a pattern from the book each day on our social media accounts so do keep an eye on those!
We’ve also been planning for our new ownership Launch Party on 15th September when we will have Debbie Orr of Skein Queen fame coming along to do a Pop-Up Shop. Super exciting! More details will be revealed soon!
One more thing to tell you, all Debbie Bliss Yarn is currently 10% off in the shop. We have Cashmerino Aran, Fine Donegal, Cotton Denim, Aymara and Baby Cashmerino as well as further discounts on Debbie Bliss pattern books. We will not be restocking Debbie Bliss so do pop in if you want to stock up before it’s all gone!
